§ 5-5. Dogs in parks, on beaches; dogs running at large; canine excrement.

  • (a)

    As used in this section, the terms "Owner", "Person" and "Responsible Party" means any person, persons, firms, corporations or associations owning, harboring, keeping or controlling a dog or dogs within the Village.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful to take any dog into or to keep any dog in or upon any public park or beach in the Village except as provided in subsection (c) below, or for the Owner or the Person in control of any dog to allow such dog to run at large. All dogs, when not on the premises of the Owner thereof or of the Person in control thereof, must be on a leash under the control of a competent Person.

    (c)

    Dogs shall be permitted only on the area of hardpack sand on Village Beaches west of the sand dunes, provided that the Owner or Person in control of such dog abides by the requirements of subsections (b) and (d).

    (d)

    The Owner or Person in control of a dog shall immediately remove from public and private property any excrement from such dog.
