§ 11-3. Keeping unclean premises.

  • (a)

    Duty of owner, occupant. It shall be unlawful for Persons who are Owners and/or Occupants of land, lots and other premises within the Village to fail to keep the premises clean, sanitary and free from weeds, trash and debris. The growth of weeds, brush or grass to a length of more than 12 inches on vacant property or six inches on property containing a structure shall not be permitted.

    (b)

    Cleaning of lot by Village; payment of costs. If the Owner or Occupant of such land within the Village shall fail to comply with the requirements of this section, the Village Manager is hereby directed and authorized to cause such work to be done and keep an account of the cost thereof. Such cost shall be a charge and lien against the Property so cleaned to the same extent and character as liens for special assessments provided for in the laws and ordinances of the Village.
