§ 67. Inquiry into operation of village office or department.

  • The council, the village manager, or any person or committee authorized by either of them, shall have the power to inquire into the conduct of any office or department, or officer of the village and to make investigations as to municipal affairs, and for that purpose may subpoena witnesses, administer oaths, and compel the production of books, papers, and other evidence. Failure to obey such subpoena or to produce books, papers or other evidence as ordered under the provisions of this section shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punishable in the village municipal court by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment not to exceed ten (10) days or both.

This section has been editorially deleted from the Charter as it was converted to an ordinance by operation of F.S. § 166.021(5) which converted all provisions of special acts pertaining to the power and jurisdiction of a city with certain listed exceptions into ordinances to be amended as all other ordinances of the city and it has been transferred to the Code of Ordinance and is section 2-2.
