§ 9-60. Placement standards.

  • All Newsracks erected, placed, maintained or operated within the designated locations stated in section 9-59(a) shall conform to the following standards:

    (1)

    Where bus waiting areas are provided by the Village all Newsracks shall be placed, maintained and operated only within the bus waiting areas preserved for them.

    (2)

    No more than four Newsracks shall be placed or erected at a designated location, with only a maximum of two Newsracks permitted on either side of the designated seating area.

    (3)

    No Newsrack shall be placed or located on a Roadway.

    (4)

    Whenever possible, no Newsrack shall be located closer than five feet from a Roadway.

    (5)

    No Newsrack shall be permitted to rest upon, in or over any Sidewalk.

    (6)

    No Newsrack shall be chained, bolted or otherwise attached to any Property not owned by the Distributor of the Newsrack or to any permanently fixed object.

    (7)

    Newsracks may be chained or otherwise attached to one another; however, no more than three Newsracks may be joined together in this manner, and a space of no less than 18 inches shall separate each group of three Newsracks so attached.

    (8)

    Whenever possible, no Newsrack shall be placed, installed, used or maintained within five feet of any marked crosswalk, fire hydrant, fire callbox or police callbox.
