§ 2-401. Definitions.

  • As used in this Article, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

    Boycott means to blacklist, divest from, or otherwise refuse to deal with a person or entity when the action is based on race, color, religion, gender, or national origin of the targeted person or entity. The term "Boycott" does not include:

    (1)

    A decision based upon business or economic reasons;

    (2)

    A Boycott against a public entity or foreign state when the boycott is applied in a non discriminatory manner;

    (3)

    Boycotts or divestments of particular jurisdictions that are specifically authorized or required by federal law or state law.

    Business means any sole proprietorship, organization, association, corporation, limited liability partnership, limited liability company, or other entity or business association, including wholly owned subsidiaries, majority owned subsidiaries, parent companies or affiliates of those entities or business associations.

    Open Trade Jurisdiction means World Trade Organization members and those countries with which the United States has free trade or other agreements aimed at ensuring open and non-discriminatory trade regulations.
