§ 2-90. Optional group health insurance plan.

  • (a)

    Upon the voluntary written request of any employee as defined in section 13-26 of the Village Code or police officer as defined in section 13-40 of the Village Code (each is an "employee" herein) to withdraw from participation in the Village group health insurance plan, the Village Manager is hereby authorized to compensate, on a monthly basis, said employee in an amount equal to fifty percent of the Village's then prevailing monthly cost for providing group health insurance coverage to an individual employee, once withdrawal is accomplished. Withdrawal shall not be authorized for purposes of obtaining the benefits of this section unless the employee certifies and demonstrates, as requested by the Village Manager, that he or she has obtained health insurance coverage from an alternate source.

    (b)

    This section shall not be applied in any manner which would be contrary to the restrictions or prohibitions of Chapter 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations (the "CFR") Section 411.103. Further, prior to making any payments pursuant to this section, the Village Manager shall adopt internal procedures to assure compliance with this paragraph (b).
