§ 2-5. Village seal.

    Definitions. As used in this section, the official seal of the Village shall mean the following identifying symbol:

    Execution and acknowledgement of written instruments. The seal of the Village shall be at all times in the custody of the Village Clerk, and whenever it shall be necessary for the Village, under the authority of its Village Council, its Charter, or its Code and the general laws of the state, to execute contracts, deeds, or other documents on behalf of the Village, the official seal of the Village shall be affixed by the Village Clerk to such contract, deed, or other document.

    (3)

    Prohibition. It shall be unlawful and a violation of this article for any person to print for the purpose of sale or distribution, or circulate, manufacture, publish, use, display, or offer for sale any letters, papers, documents, or items of merchandise which simulate the official seal of the Village or the stationery of a real or fictitious agency, department, or instrumentality of the Village without the expressed written authority of the Village council or its designee. The unauthorized use shall be punishable as provided in F.S. §§ 775.082 and 775.083.

    (4)

    Exceptions. This article shall not be applicable to the Village, its agencies, departments, instrumentalities, quasi-judicial and advisory bodies, acting within the scope of their official capacities.
